About Kerala Model United Nations

KERMUN, which stands for Kerala Model United Nations, is an academic simulation of committees within the United Nations and other international bodies. Students are assigned the roles of diplomats representing various nations and discuss agendas of international importance. MUNs introduce variety and encourage a seamless integration of skills in the art of debate. They take the old, worn out idea of academic debate and breathes new life into it.

Unlike conventional debates which require structured arguments and responses to the opposition, MUNs are more flexible and complex. Here,the truth of the argument is not the be all and end all. The support it can rally, is equally, if not more, important.

To achieve your ends, you must cast away the conventional norms of debate and step into the shoes of the likes of Kissinger, Bismarck, and Matternich. You will have to speak and write, sometimes with fiery passion, sometimes with cold, hard logic, sometimes with cruel deception, but always with the cunning persuasion of history’s greatest orators.

While remaining faithful to this driving philosophy of all MUNs, KERMUN goes a step further to assert its individuality among the vast MUNning crowd. Unique in the way it forces a delegate out of their comfort zone and helps them to adapt to it, KERMUN has carved out a niche for itself among the multitude of mainstream MUNs in the Kerala circuit.

Although first and foremost, KERMUN is an MUN, that's not all that it aspires to be. KERMUN is a journey. A journey where every step counts more than the final destination. A journey that evolves with every twist and turn. A journey that is constantly reinventing itself.

Hycinth, an ambitious project by Sparsa.Hycinth is the brand name for the chain of five-star business class hotels and sojourns in Kerala.

The name ‘Hycinth’ depicts a bulbous plant of the lily family, with strap-like leaves and a compact spike of bell-shaped fragrant flowers. With a range of recreational facilities and Food and Beverage establishments nearby, Hycinth provides delegates of KERMUN 2017 with an enriching and conducive environment for debate and self-development.

Priority registration - र 1500 per delegate

Regular Registration - र 2000 per delegate

Student Observers (optional) - र 1500

Student Observers will receive an allocation assignment, and will be rotated between councils so as to maximize exposure to the different councils and topics. Student observers will be required to meet attendance requirements in order to receive their participation certificate, and will need to inform the conference staff if they wish to move around the different councils. Independent Delegates may not sign up as Student Observers.
